Dr Pauline M Clerkin – MB BCH BAO (National University of Ireland 1987) DRCOG MRCGP
Dr Clerkin qualified in medicine from the University College Dublin in 1987, and has been working at Whaddon Medical Centre for almost 20 years. Her special interests are in family planning and dermatology, especially skin cancer.
Dr Clerkin’s interest in dermatology began with a hospital rotation in 1990 at the Birmingham Skin Hospital and she continued to keep this passion alive whilst working as a GP at Whaddon Medical centre.
She joined a small Dermoscopy group in 2007 in Oxfordshire, under the tuition of Dr Jonathan Bowling , lead consultant in this new diagnostic technique and author of Diagnostic Dermoscopy: Illustrated guide.
In June 2013 she attained a distinction in her Diploma in Practical Dermatology (DPD) and completed a 3 month online introduction in Dermoscopy also run by The Department of Dermatology, University of Cardiff.
She attends a 2 monthly educational Skin Club at The Churchill Hospital Oxford, lead by the Consultant dermatologists Dr R Turner and Dr J Reed.
Since June 2014 she has Been attending the Dermatology Outpatient Clinic at Bedford General Hospital with Dr Burova ,consultant dermatologist.
She is a member of the PCDS, Primary Care Dermatology Society and attends their annual weekend events and recently a minor surgery update course.
Dr Clerkin enjoys keeping fit through running and cycling and has two teenage sons.
